BREAKING NEWS: U.S. Capitol Police Respond to Potential Active Shooter Near Senate Office Buildings

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Capitol Police have issued an urgent safety notice following a worrying 911 call that led to a lock-down in the Senate Office Buildings today. The police have reported an ongoing search operation in and around the Senate Buildings in response to the possible presence of an active shooter.


In a recent statement posted on their official website, the U.S. Capitol Police are urging the public to avoid the area while their officers conduct an investigation. No confirmed reports of gunshots have been made so far, but the authorities have taken every precaution, including advising everyone inside the Senate Buildings to shelter in place.


As part of the response, a media staging location has been set up at 1st and Constitution Avenue, NW, where a Public Information Officer (PIO) will provide updates as the situation unfolds.


As of now, U.S. Capitol Police are maintaining a continued investigation and are advising people inside the Senate Buildings to remain in their current location, sheltering in place.

The public is urged to follow the directions of law enforcement officers on the scene. The circumstances surrounding the 911 call remain unclear, and the U.S. Capitol Police are working diligently to ensure the safety of everyone in and around the area.
